The complexity of the ovarian histology is enhanced by the possibility to suffer multiple processes, such as hyperplasia, metaplasia, cystic degeneration, ectopia, etc, collectively known as “nonneoplastic lesions”. Such lesions should be differentiated from potential threatening conditions, mainly malignancies. The workshop aims to provide the key elements for the organ diagnosis and several nonneoplastic, benign, borderline, and malignant entities highlighting their resemblance to normal ovarian structures. The workshop is organized in the following steps: (i) histology remainder, (ii) review of pathology, (iii) real time diagnosis of 4 clinical cases illustrative for the above mentioned statement. The participants will be grouped into 4 working teams, each having access to microscopy slides, clinical, and laboratory data. Subsequently, each group will progress through a multistep diagnosis algorithm, following several major points: the identification of the involved ovarian structure, establishment of the lesion type, and diagnosis category framing. The wining team will be awarded with a prize!!!
