A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE HUMAN BODY

This workshop is an introduction to autopsy theory and practice that will familiarize participants with the historical evolution of the autopsy as well as with the technique of performing it.
In the first part of the workshop there will be presented aspects related to the place and relevance of the autopsy in different social contexts and its evolution over time from the use of corpses for dissections for medical educational purposes to autopsy to determine the cause of death, from the classic autopsy- in which all body cavities are opened- to virtual autopsy (Virtopsy®), which applies imaging techniques, allowing the preservation of body integrity.
The second stage is practical and will take place in the autopsy room. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a forensic autopsy, observing the various techniques of opening the body cavities, removing and examining the organs and also will have the possibility to perform certain parts of the autopsy themselves.
ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND: FROM BASIC TO BEDSIDE DIAGNOSIS IN HEPATOLOGY

In gastroenterology ultrasound is a continuation of clinical examination. This two-hours interactive workshop will provide participants with the required knowledge and skills in hepatic ultrasound. The workshop will focus on basic scanning techniques of the liver, normal and abnormal findings involved the diffuse and focal hepatic diseases. In the first part it will be a case presentation, a lecture and a live demonstration of a new technique: contrast – enhanced ultrasonography. In the second part of the workshop you will be able to incorporate the lessons you have learned into your clinical practice in small groups hands-on practice. At the end of this course, you would have acquired basic knowledge and practical skills of ultrasound imaging for hepatic diseases diagnosis.

The workshop will comprise two main parts:
The first part will represent a theoretical approach, consisting in a brief description of the MRI imaging technique and its importance in diagnosis, in correlation with other methods of investigation, and the presentation of the MRI instrument.
In the second part, different types of imaging acquisition will be performed on a laboratory animal (rat) followed by the processing of the obtained images. There will be described and exemplified the preparation and follow-up of the animal throughout the experiment according to the ethical standards.

Acute respiratory failure may kill a patient in a matter of days, hours
or minutes. The knowledge and skills regarding airway management may be
therefore life-saving. This workshop will present strategies, devices and
techniques to deal with airway in elective or emergency conditions. The
attendees will have the opportunity to practice on simulators and
mannequins.
